Just1mike and the Lefler Family donate an outdoor SaveStation to ​Petaluma High school

June, 2024 - Petaluma, CA

We are thankful to Nancy and Mike Lefler who reached out to help donate a publicly accessible outdoor AED SaveStation to Petaluma High School. The Lefler family honored their son, Trevor, who was a student athlete at Petaluma High School and diagnosed with heart condition at the age of sixteen. The station is placed at the football stadium at the high school's outdoor sports complex. A dedication ceremony that announced this gift and honored two young lives, Michael and Trevor.  Our thanks to Healthy Petaluma and the Petaluma Fire Department for their help maintaining the AED as well as educating & training the community.

Fire Chief Steve Akres ​leads the presentation and awards Challenge Coins to all involved in these life-saving efforts.

Heart screening in Sonoma Valley

June, 2024 - Sonoma, CA

Three foundations ... just1mike, Kyle J. Taylor and Who We Play For partnered again to  bring a second heart screening to Sonoma Valley. Youth and young adults ages 10-25 were offered the gift of free electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) testing and echocardiogram testing to help identify undiagnosed heart conditions that put youth at risk for sudden cardiac arrest. We thank our generous sponsors as well as all the volunteers who helped make this day possible.

Just1mike Donates AEDs to the Anova Center for Education 

Both campuses of the Anova Center for Education are now safer for all with the donation of two automated external defibrillators. Donation day was also a day of education and awareness. We partnered with the Petaluma Health District to bring  CPR and AED training to the Anova staff as well as ongoing maintenance of the AEDs. Just1mike's "Saving Lives Together Donation & Partnership Program" working to make campuses Rescue Ready!

The first placement of outdoor SaveStations and Avive AEDs in the United States.

August, 2024 - Sewickley, PA

A day of education and awareness was held to officially announce the placement of three outdoor SaveStations and one indoor station at Sewickley Academy. Special guests from SaveStation and Ben Terrell, just1mike junior board member and Sewickley Academy student made this day even more special.




just1mike sponsors four “Young Hearts 4 Life” screenings in 2024

Montini Catholic, Hinsdale South, Hinsdale Central and Lemont High Schools.

A total of 3,630 students screened (free EKG testing) at these four schools with 32 students identified for further cardiac follow-up. Life-saving days.



Hinsdale Central High School Sports Club raises funds for
​just1mike at annual Turkey Bowl

A big thank you to the HCHS sports club for their awesome support again on just1mike this year! We also want to thank just1mike junior board co-president Niko for educating the crowed on SCA, JB member Spencer for covering this event and JB families for their generous support in providing prizes and snacks. It was a great day with 60 players participating and all funds raised will go to just1mike to help support high school screenings.


Just1mike sponsors high school heart screenings in Florida

With the generous support of Drenda Vijuk and a partnership with the WHO WE PLAY FOR Foundation, the students in Nassau County, Florida received the gift of free ECG testing. For the first time, screenings were held at Yulee, Hilliard Middle-Senior, West Nassau and Fernandina Beach high schools. Students were referred for further cardiac evaluation as a result of these screenings. 


Race to end Sudden Cardiac Arrest - 2022

Thanking all who helped raise awareness to SCA in youth and young adults and honored Michael in October, sudden cardiac arrest awareness month.

On August 8, 2022 Senator Bill Dodd and Assemblymember Marc Levine recognized the heroic actions of Toby, Nate and Mason as well as the work of just1mike ... all contributing to a young live saved in Sonoma, CA in June, 2022.

Just1mike donates two AEDs to Camp Taylor

Camp Taylor is medically supervised camp for children with congenital heart disease (CHD), the #1 heart defect in the world. This special place creates positive, self-affirming experiences that bring joy to children and youth while deepening their understand of heart defects and inspiring them to transcend the limitations the disease seeks to impose on them. Camp Taylor was founded by a mother for her son (Taylor) who was born with half a heart - Hypo-Plastic Right Heart Syndrome. 

Just1mike is truly honored to make a donation of 2 AEDs to Camp Taylor!

SaveStation Dedication in Sonoma Valley 

August 27, 2022

Dedicating the gift of four SaveStations housing life-saving AEDs to the Sonoma Valley High School campus, one of which saved the life of a 16 year old boy on the outdoor basketball courts. 

A day that brought awareness and education to the community of sudden cardiac arrest in youth. Also a day remembering the  precious life of Michael who we honor through this work and Mikey, whose life was saved.

just1mike donates two outdoor SaveStations to Maxwell Park

September 2024 - Sonoma, CA

Dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the placement of two more outdoor stations, housing life-saving AEDs in Sonoma, CA.  A grant from Impact100 Sonoma and collaboration with the Sonoma Valley Fire Department  helped to bring these stations to this newly renovated park and recreational space.

Saving Lives Together with the Downers Grove Panthers

On August 28,2020 the just1mike junior board presented the Downers Grove Panthers Football & Cheer organization with a mobile automated external defibrillator (AED). This life-saving device just made the playing field, the sidelines and the stands a much safer place for all. 

Our thanks to the junior board for a special persentation and to the Panthers for joining us to protect young hearts.

Know for his kindness,
leadership and bright smile, 
Michael loved to laugh, loved Culver
and especially loved the Brotherhood of Super II. ​His life made ours better.

The brotherhood of  Super II, counselors and administrators gathered together to honor and  remember their friend, their brother with a lunch and special dedication ceremony. A bench close to the Naval building and looking out to Lake Maxinkuckee has been placed in memory of Michael's life and time at Culver.

Hinsdale Central Sports Club Turkey Bowl Fundraiser

The Race to End Sudden Cardiac Arrest on October 24, 2020 brought more than 1,500 participants across the country walking, biking, running, moving … all to raise awareness to SCA in youth. We teamed up with foundations from across the U.S. for this inaugural event.

Michael's 21st Birthday Fundraiser

We are so thankful to all who donated  and all who helped make the just1mike fundraiser in October such a success!  So much was accomplished to raise awareness of SCA in youth, support the life-saving work of just1mike and honor Michael on his 21st birthday ... all during the month of October, sudden cardiac arrest awareness month.

A special thanks to our junior board members who worked hard to promote this virtual event and help spread overall awareness! A story  was featured in The Hinsdalean after a letter to the editor from junior board members, see the link to the story below.

and all particpants!

Connor Bonino and Anuj Karamchandi, seniors at Hinsdale Central High School who lead the school's sports club, organized an event to benefit the just1mike foundation. The inaugural Turkey Bowl Flag Football Tournament was held on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019.

Close to 60 students participated to help make a special donation to just1mike. The event was recorded by two members of the just1mike junior board and featured story in The Clarendon Courier on Dec. 19, 2019.

Members of the Hinsdale Central Girls Swim Team washed cars to raise money for just1mike.
​Thank you for your amazing support, endless energy, hard work and kind hearts!

Just down the street from his childhood home and a place where Michael played many games with his friends, the basketball court at Hosek Park was dedicaed to Michael's life and memory. Michael's friends and their parents gathered to unviel the court sign and share in this special ceremony. The love and support along with beautiful memories that were shared will be remembered forever. Thank you to all who were apart of this special gift!

"Several of Michael's friends then shared their favorite memories. From study breaks shooting hoops, befriending a new student on the bus, to being the perfect example of a kid made by God to enjoy life, his friends demonstrated that although Michael is gone, he will never be forgotten."


Hinsdale Central Girls Swim Team Car Wash Fundraiser
