Meet our son, Michael

He wanted to be a sportscaster. A writer. A father.
But we lost him, in an instant, to cardiac arrest.
He was just 16 years old.

It’s our mission to educate families on the critical risk of undetected heart conditions and the need for AEDs everywhere … where we work, live and play.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest affects 23,000
children in the US each year.

1 in 300 youth at risk for an undetected heart condition

Sudden cardiac arrest is the #1 killer of student athletes

#1 cause of death on school campuses nationwide

One child dies every hour of every day from sudden cardiac arrest.  The summer of 2016, on a balmy Tuesday evening after a camp basketball game, his teammates’ triumphant cheers still ringing in his ears, that child was Michael.

It could be your child’s life tomorrow.  Get your children screened.  Today.

We helped save lives

Read about how two AEDs installed at
Sonoma Valley High School helped save lives

Another way that just1mike is helping to battle sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is to install AEDs (automated external defibrillators) in public schools, parks, and outdoor locations.  An AED is the only way to restart the heart of someone in SCA, outside of a hospital.

The survival rate of SCA decreases by 10% for each minute that passes without intervention.

Just1Mike has donated 41 AEDs in various locations since 2020.  Your donations help bring AEDs to where we live and play.

Real Impact

It’s our mission to educate families on the critical risk of undetected heart conditions and the need for AEDs everywhere … where we work, live and play.

To date, just1mike has helped bring ECG testing to over 24,000 youth and young adults

AEDs placed by just1mike is now at 41, soon to be 42.

We founded just1mike to honor Michael’s memory by saving your child’s life.

There has been too much suffering for one more family to face this often avoidable tragedy.

EKG testing can detect up to 85% of hidden heart defects, but if there’s no test, there’s no result, and no knowledge.

An AED is the only way to restart the heart of someone experiencing cardiac arrest outside of a hospital.

Just1mike.org is a 501(c)3 non-profit, volunteer-based organization.
