The Just1Mike foundation is continuing in its mission to bring life-saving machines to Sonoma Valley, now available at the ball field.
The baseball field north of the Plaza welcomed a new automatic defibrillator to the dugout last week as part of a community effort to expand access to the life-saving machines.
The establishment of the AED was possible through a partnership between Sonoma Little League and the Just1Mike foundation, founded by Kristy and Bob Brindley in memory of their son, Michael Brindley, who died from cardiac arrest in 2016 at the age of 16 on a basketball court.
According to the Mayo Clinic, sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death for youth athletes.
The Brindleys have since led the charge in increasing the number of AEDs across Sonoma Valley. The devices installed at Sonoma Valley High School and Friedman’s Home Improvement were instrumental in saving the lives of two Sonoma Valley residents.
Soon, they will also host an installation at Maxwell Farms Regional Park.
